About

PROGRAMS is a web depository and moniker of Matthew David Tierney, an artist and musician from Australia. His work engages a number of forms – from music release and audio-visual performance – to discrete, cinematic installations. Current work utilises runtime media and electronic music to explore the idea of orbital perspective as both a conceptual and technical framework.

In previous years Tierney has been a recipient of numerous grants from funding bodies such as the Australia Council for the Arts, CAL Australia, JUMP Mentoring and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, and was an early founding member of Melbourne-based artist-run-space ‘The Food Court’. He has participated in Artist in Residence programs with Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada, BIG CI in the Blue Mountains NSW, ANAT in Perth, and Harvestworks in NYC. Tierney has presented live performances in Australia, the United States and Canada under the name ‘PROGRAMS’, while installation work has been exhibited as ‘Leaf-tierney’ at West Space, Liquid Architecture Festival, NEW LOW, Blindside, Screen Space, various BYOB shows, and Design Festa Gallery in Tokyo.
